Tell Legislators: It's time to invest in the early education workforce!
State leaders in Beacon Hill are discussing a move right now that would directly help early educators -- but I need your help to make sure it passes.
All our work to push lawmakers to recognize that we need to invest in teachers and early care providers is starting to pay off. Two amendments have been proposed to the state budget which would boost child care voucher rates by $15.2 million across the state, and invest another $2 million in quality assistance for providers.
Can you take a minute and send an email along to your state representative asking him or her to back these amendments?
Yes, I can.
The State House just put forward the budget, and even though our state has a big deficit, we were able to get $5 million added in to boost teacher pay. Together we can push that up to $15.2 million.
Working with Massachusetts Fair Share, MECEU is continuing to push state lawmakers to do the right thing for families, for children and for those of us who make sure children get the care and early learning they need to thrive.
But we've only got a few more days to support these amendments, and need your help to make sure our leaders get the message.
